Insurabiz respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have — under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the provincial privacy and insurance legislation that applies where we operate.
Insurabiz is an independent commercial insurance brokerage. This policy applies to this website and to the brokerage services we provide to businesses in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan.
It covers personal information about you as an individual — including information about you in your capacity as a business owner, director, or contact for a company we insure.
When you request a quote, ask for a certificate of insurance, contact us, apply to our business network, or buy a policy, we collect what you give us: your name, contact details, business details, and information about the property, vehicles, operations, or people you want covered. For quotes and claims this can include information insurers require to assess risk.
When you use the website, we may collect limited technical information automatically — including your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. Analytics information of this kind is only collected if you allow it (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and our services are directed at businesses rather than consumers.
We use your information to prepare quotes and compare coverage across our panel of insurers on your behalf, to arrange and administer policies, to issue certificates of insurance, to support you through claims, to respond to your enquiries, and to meet the legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations that apply to a licensed brokerage.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects about you.
To arrange and service your coverage, we share the information necessary with the insurance companies, underwriters, and adjusters involved in your quote, policy, or claim. We may also share information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
We use a small number of service providers to run the website and communicate with you. Each is bound by contract to protect your information and to use it only for the services they provide to us:
SendGrid (Twilio Inc.) — delivers the emails generated when you submit a form, so form contents including your name, email address, phone number, and enquiry details pass through their systems. Google Analytics (Google LLC) — measures website usage, and only runs if you allow analytics cookies. Neighbourly — supplies the geographic data behind our location pages; this is reference data about places and does not include your personal information.
SendGrid and Google are based in the United States, and information handled by them may be stored or processed outside Canada. While it is outside the country it is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, and may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement, and government authorities under those laws.
We use these providers because they are established, contractually bound to protect your information, and appropriate for the purpose. If you would prefer not to submit information through the website, you can contact us by phone at 613-355-3130 or by mail instead.
No analytics or tracking runs on this site until you allow it. When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice, and nothing is loaded unless you select “Allow”. Choosing “Essential only” means no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is sent anywhere; the site works normally either way.
If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful and where people get stuck. It sets cookies that help distinguish one visit from another. We use it for aggregate measurement — we do not use it to identify you personally, and we have not enabled advertising or remarketing features.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage rather than in a tracking cookie. You can change it at any time using the “Cookie preferences” control at the bottom of this page: that clears your stored choice, stops analytics collection, and removes the analytics cookies already set. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
If you apply to the Insurabiz Network, we use the details you provide to confirm you are a client with coverage in force and to review the offer you want to publish.
Anything you ask us to publish — your business name, category, region, and the offer itself — becomes visible to other members and, where the listing is public, to visitors of this website. That publication happens only for the details you submit for that purpose. Your policy information is never shared with other members, and we confirm coverage without disclosing what it is. You can ask us to remove your listing at any time.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires us to. Records connected to policies, claims, and the advice we give are kept for the periods required of a licensed insurance brokerage, which are generally measured in years after a policy ends, so that we can answer questions about coverage that arose while it was in force.
Website enquiries that do not lead to a policy are kept for a shorter period and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting we configure in Google Analytics.
When information is no longer needed, we destroy, erase, or anonymise it.
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted transmission of the data you send through this website, access limited to people who need it, and contractual protections with our service providers.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and withdraw your consent to uses that are not required by law or by a contract we have with you. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services — for example, we cannot arrange coverage without sharing information with insurers.
To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the timeframes PIPEDA sets. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your provincial privacy regulator.
We may update this policy as our services or our providers change. The current version is always posted here with the date it took effect. Material changes will be brought to your attention on the website.
